Several articles on obstacles to learning suggest that it is really important to keep a log of common student obstacles, in a notebook, to refer back to. This is a habit I want to develop. In terms of emotional obstacles, I think it would be really interesting to talk to students about those responses, and how they can minimise/ignore them. One thing I want to instil in learners in my classroom is that ‘I can’t’ is never true. Instead ‘I can’t yet…’.
